 Grapes and Sunshine

Raisins are the #1 selling dried fruit in America, enjoyed as a wholesome snack by adults and kids alike for their natural sweetness and simplicity. Despite their small size, raisins are packed with energy and contribute to the daily intake of fiber, vitamins, and essential minerals. They are also fat and cholesterol free, naturally low in sodium, and a source of potassium and concentrated nutrients1. Dried in the warm California sunshine, raisins are naturally sweet, containing no added sugar.

Places of Origin

Grown in Mediterranean climates located throughout the world, the largest producing countries include the U.S., Turkey, China, Iran and India, although currently over 175 countries commercially grow raisin grapes to the tune of 1.3MM metric tons annually. California is now the world’s largest raisin producing region in the world and where Flagstone Food’s preferred growers and processors are located.

A Raisin’s Journey

Grape vines, resistant to most environmental conditions are extremely resilient and can last over 100 years. They consistently provide farmers with fresh sweet grapes year after year. Each fall season, when the raisin grapes have fully ripened, they are severed from the vine to dry in the hot sun. Once peak dryness is achieved, the dried grapes become raisins. They are then gathered from vineyards and stored at nearby processing facilities where they are sized, cleaned of all debris (including stems) and washed to ensure safety.

Naturally Sweet and Nutritious

As nutritious as they are delicious, raisins are a versatile snack that can be enjoyed on their own, on-the-go, or as an ingredient in many snacks and recipes. You will find these tasty treats in many of our many of popular trail mixes, adding a tangy, chewy bite and a touch of natural sweetness.
